   Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo (born March 5, 1937) is a Nigerian Army General and politician. He has been the President of Nigeria since 1999. A Christian of Yoruba extraction, Obasanjo was a career soldier before serving twice as his nation's head of state, once as a military ruler, between 13 February 1976 and 1 October 1979 and again, since 1999, as elected president.
